Welcome to this select offering. Each year, we work to bring together items that represent a broad range of artistic disciplines. Collector pieces that include the Foundation's Limited Edition Print Series, The Great American Cowboy, are always popular among our generous bidders.

Proceeds from the auction are used to help fund scholarship programs made available to students from the five-state region of North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Nebraska and who are seeking post-secondary education in agriculturally related career fields.

Once again the Black Hills Stock Show Foundation will present six $2,000 scholarships during the BHSS Stockman’s Banquet and Ball to very deserving high school seniors. We are proud to help these individuals with their dreams. The Ramkota Best Western will host this event as four deserving ag-dedicated individuals are honored by the community. The money raised during the auction held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Banquet and Ball will help continue this scholarship program. We will auction off many beautiful and extraordinary donations that will grace any home or lodge. The discerning cowboy and cowgirl will be sure to find something to help them shine like a star.

  Hand Tooled Leather Chair – Crafted and donated by local artist Mavis Madison. This beautiful French Style Occasional Chair is adorned with hand-tooled leather enhancements.  Striking item for any room of western décor.
Elk Antler Wine Rack with Wine – Crafted and donated by Scott and Margie Gross.  Stunning wine rack crafted from elk antlers accompanied by 2 bottles of superb  “14 Hands” Wine, both Chardonnay and “Hot to Trot” red mix.
  Handcrafted Ladies Belt --  Crafted and donated by Ralph Maynard and Maynard Buckles. Elegant item to enhance the lady’s wardrobe, whether casual or dress.
  Women’s Tony Lama Boots donated by Tim Harwood, Tony Lama Representative.  These boots are USA made of premium quality leather and, since 1911, represent the most recognized Western Boot Brand in the world.
  Men’s Tony Lama Boots donated by  Tim Harwood, Tony Lama Representative.  What an opportunity, matching boots for the boys and girls to step out in style.  Again, premium quality.
  100X Bailey Hat – donated by Tim Harwood and Bailey Hats.  The ultimate topper for the distinguished and well-dressed lady or gentleman.
Hand Tooled Women’s Clutch Purse – Crafted and donated by Roy Grout.  Delightful  8” x 4½” intricately tooled leather Clutch Purse with multiple compartments and shoulder strap to boot.  Fits the hand perfectly.
“Buggy Seat Style” Bench – Crafted and donated by Doug Draine.  This “most unusual” Foyer or Den Settee  is designed in the style of a springboard buggy seat.  Bench is approximately 48” x 18” and constructed of stained white cedar. Beautiful craftsmanship.
BHSSF Comm. Ladies’ Silver Spurs – Commemorative gorgeous spurs handcrafted by Sliester Spur Makers.  These spurs truly define the ultimate in western artistry and gear.  The spurs are enhanced by hand tooled spur straps with silver buckles by Rick Lemmel.   You don’t want to be without them for your next parade appearance ladies.
Leather & Stone Necklace & Bracelet designed, crafted and donated by Rick Lemmel. This stunning leather and mounted turquoise necklace plus beautiful tooled leather and matching stone cuff bracelet would be a treasure for any discerning lady to complement her western outfit. A must have item for that elegant yet out-of-the-box touch.
  Cloakroom Shelf w/ Horseshoe Coat Hooks – Handcrafted and donated by Roger Penn.   A decorative and truly functional shelf to keep those gloves together and handy with multiple horseshoe hat or coat hooks.
Rancher’s Contingency Kit --  Crafted and donated by Sweetwater Saddlery.  Beautifully tooled set of Saddle Bags with some extra contingency items thrown in such as medicine bottle holders and, when all else fails, a holder for a bottle of Crown Royal.  Also includes a silk scarf and scarf holder plus a gorgeous and functional matching hand tooled holster for fencing pliers.
BHSSF Commemorative Rifle – A not-to-be-duplicated item donated in-part by Benelli/USA.   An authentic Uberti  replica of an 1860 Henry 44.40 Lever-Action Repeating Rifle with an A grade walnut stock, 24½” octagonal barrel, brass frame and butt plate all fully engraved by A&A Engraving.   The rifle package includes a brass plaque and Certificate of Authenticity. This rifle is a true replica of the Civil War lever action repeating 1860 Henry Rifle issued to the Union Troops and following the war gained fame in the Battle of the Little Big Horn.  The rifle is accompanied by an oak and glass display case and a Gift Certificate for 5 boxes of ammunition donated by Black Hills Ammunition.  This rifle is truly a Collector’s Dream.
BHSSF Rifle Scabbard created by BC Leather & Saddlery.  Another incredible scabbard with exquisite tooling and beautiful creative design.  What a treasure for your favorite rifle.  I’ll bet that 44.40 would fit in that like a hand in a glove.
  A Piece of the Rock with encased  Drill Bit donated by Crazy Horse Memorial. A true piece of Crazy Horse Mountain and Black Hills History blasted from the mountain.  What better treasure to adorn your deck, your office or lawn.  Certainly a not-so-ordinary conversation piece accompanied by 4 tickets to the “Top of the Mountain.”
Crystal and Pearl Jewelry Set designed, crafted and donated by Bitterroot Designs.  A beautiful combination of Swarovski crystals, crystal pearls and 14 karat gold plated accents.  The necklace, bracelet and earrings while enhancing your attire, would make you feel and look like royalty.
BHSSF Ed Lawrence Spurs donated by Marty Rypkema and made by the incomparable Ed Lawrence.  These handmade spurs are adorned with Black Hills Gold Eagles and have tooled leather spur straps.  Buy these spurs and you can share the pride of ownership of Ed Lawrence Spurs with such notables  as Tom Selleck among others.
  20X Extreme Showcase Rodeo Shirt – 2013 donated by Sutton Rodeos.  The shirt is autographed by the top rated South Dakota contestants from the 2012 High School Rodeo season participating in the High School Rodeo Showcase.  Grandpa and Grandma step to the plate for this wonderful piece of memorabilia.
BHSSF 2013 Commemorative Buckle.  The 3rd annual Commemorative Buckle created by Tres Rios Silver of Llano, Texas.  This is a double plated silver overlay buckle with jewel and gold enhancements.  It is an issue of 1:1 and will not be duplicated.  It is a keeper.
Original Wax Painting (Encaustic Style) – by Lance Levi.  This very aptly titled painting “Coming to an Understanding” depicts a cowboy training a colt, done in a rare and classic Greek encaustic painter’s medium of  heated pigmented bees wax.  It needs to be seen to be believed.
  Handcrafted Silver Necklace designed, crafted and donated by Ralph Maynard and Maynard Buckles.  This beautiful necklace is a true pleasure to own and wear.  And Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.
Dodge Rodeo Pick-up Chaps donated by Dodge Rodeo.  What more can we say  ---    they are authentic Dodge Rodeo Pick-up Chaps,  truly a piece of rodeo history.  A fabulous donation and exceptional rodeo collectible.
  Unique Leather Treasure crafted and donated by K Bar J Leather Co. K Bar J always provides a beautiful leather item to enhance the wardrobe, tack room or home.
  Western  Furniture donated by Freed’s Fine Furnishings.  A delightful piece of fine wooden furniture that would not only enhance but be a welcome addition to any home or office.
2013 BHSSF Commemorative Silver & Copper Bit donated by Flat Creek Saddlery. The shanks  and hobble are incredibly engraved silver with gold accents and the engraved copper spade bit make this an extraordinary item.   An ongoing specialty of the Stockman’s Auction.
Chuckulator”  Knife donated by the Sutton Family, owners of “Chuckulator.” This beautifully engraved knife celebrates “Chuckulator, the 2012 PRCA Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year” as determined by the top 20 contestants in the PRCA World standings. Another true rodeo collectible.
Original Bronze, “Swing for Two” created and donated by Black Hills sculptor Tony Chytka/One Horse Studio.  Titled “Swing for Two”the bronze replicates the cowboy selecting the next calf or two to be roped and dragged to the branding fire. This sculpture is one of a limited edition of 20.
